The Fangwild's Daughter

“Scholars propose the Fangwild Forest is a spacetime anomaly much like a black hole. It borders many realities, and in theory travelers might pass through it into other worlds. But they would inevitably be torn to shreds along the way.”

-Smith’s Miscellany Cryptobotanica

"If I have to separate you two again, neither is staying in the Fangwild. And that goes for every dragon here."

-Ember

No mortal has seen the center of the Fangwild Forest. The magic is too dense, the peril is too deep. Not the elves who live on the edges of the Fangwild. Not the adventurers and fools who brave the forest in search of paths to other universes. Not the ghouls and beasts drawn in by the call of magic. No mortal but Ember.

For thousands of years, Ember hunted the ever-changing paths of the Fangwild. With the wolf Ash and her raven Yarra, she guarded the Fangwild from itself, and protected the bordering worlds from the eldritch wood. She fought the Primordials. She befriended a lonely Minotaur. She rescued a furious viking lost deep in the Fangwild’s heart. She rode a wild dragon through the maelstrom at the heart of the forest. In ancient days before Valhalla, Fangwild's borders touched even Asgard, and Ember walked with the first warriors among the mighty trees that would form its rafters.

Now, amidst the glory of her afterlife in Valhalla, Ember’s mind is fixed on the Fangwild, and the Fangwild mourns its daughter. With Ember gone into Valhalla, the Fangwild has slipped into madness. Twisted and impassable, its wilds threaten to spill out across the many realms it touches. Ember knows there are paths both to and from Valhalla. She fights in the tournament, hoping that in victory she can find a way back and set things right in her forest home.

Skin Viewer

This is not yet complete. I want to add the skins here. I created a sample below with the Nightblde Hattori skin. I do not think I will do weapon skins though. Maybe just Skins and that is it. (Probably no need for droppdown select, I will just add an image).

Ember-Specific

3DT Brandon aka Ephyr

By 3DT Brandon aka Ephyr

Before I start with this guide, I’m not the best Ember player you can find.

I’d say I’m decent with her and have enough knowledge to get gud with Ember.
I’m playing on Diamond level, sitting around 2000-2100 ELO in EU. (Highest ELO reached is with Ember 2158 ELO, Rank 29)

This is my experience with Ember I’m trying to share, not everyone has the same playstyle but I can give you some tips on how I do it and you might do it aswell.

Let’s get rid off this bla bla and hop to the guide.

General Stuff

I have to say, Ember is definitely not easy. She’s not a legend you can pick up and play like other legends. She wields a bow and katars, both really aggressive weapons with not many combos in their kit. Both weapons can be played passively.

I personally play Ember more aggressively than passive/parry. When playing with bow, care about spacing, and rack up damage while being safe. Spacing is the key to success! You can use almost every attack after hitting DLight. I frequently use DLight > NAir/NLight to wreck up damage. DLight > SAir is a perfect killing tool on the edge but also useful to just rack up damage or to string after SAir.

When playing katars I’m super aggressive, giving your opponent a hard time is a good mental counter. Pressure and reading is the key to success. Katars have some great strings and with Ember being the fastes katar legend (Lucien and katars? DansGame) you have it a lot easier to string and follow up then other katar legends.

My favorite string on katars is DAir > MDodge > DLight > Jump > DAir > NLight > Recovery > MDodge > Nair.

Ember’s Stats

Strength: 6
Dexterity: 6
Defense: 3
Speed: 7

Strength

She has the second strongest katars and the second strongest bow in the game! Her sigs are powerful aswell, her strength combined with the force of her sigs can lead to early kills even on high defense legends. She can easily rack up damage and can send a Bödvar to red in one string with katars.

I’m telling ya, abuse her bow. PogChamp

Dexterity

6 points in dexterity is awesome, it may not sound as much but it actually is. You wont get punished so easy if you play correctly, if you spam sigs.. eh then you’re probably out pretty soon. Try to abuse as much light attacks as possible since on both weapons katars and bow the attacks are coming out pretty fast.

Defense

Yup, you guessed right this is her biggest weakness. She dies early, with 3 defense you have to be really careful. Try to avoid close combat with bow and I dare you to spam your dodge. Use your dodge wisely and do not gravity cancel every sig, if you feel like they can(!) hit. A three second cooldown on your dodge with Ember, good luck.

Speed

She’s the fastest katar legend in the game (Lucien? He has katars? What, I thought he only has guns.. :^) with that being said, you can outplay your enemy pretty hard. Most of the legends are slower than you so you can just outrun them. This is perfect because if you don’t get hit you don’t have to bother much about your 3 defense.

Ember’s Signatures

Bow – Neutral Signature

This signature has two damage parts, both dealing 11.05 damage, in total 22.1. It is not possible to hit it stacked. It hits enemies in front of you, grounded and in the air.

  • This kills at 180 (red) on the edge and at 200-220 (deep red) in the middle of the stage on 8 defense.
  • This kills at 160 (light red) on the edge and at 180 (red) in the middle of the stage on 5 defense.
  • This kills at 140 (light red) on the edge and at 170 (red) in the middle of the stage on 3 defense.
  • This signature deals 22.1 damage.
  • Has decent recovery frames but small hitboxes, still nice anti-air and great kill potential. I personally don’t use it as much as other tools.

Bow – Side Signature

This signature has also two damage parts, the first part dealing 9.8 damage and the second 11.10, in total 21.8 damage. You only hit both damage parts if you’re near to your enemy or stacked. Hits enemies infront of you, grounded but not in the air.

  • This kills at 150 (light red) on the edge and at 180 (red) in the middle of the stage on 8 defense when hitting both damage parts.
  • This kills at 170 (red) on the edge and at 190 (red) in the middle of the stage on 8 defense when hitting only the second part.
  • This kills at 130-150 (light red) on the edge and at 160 (light red) in the middle of the stage on 5 defense when hitting both damage parts.
  • This kills at 150 (light red) on the edge and at 170 (red) in the middle of the stage on 5 defense when hitting only the second part.
  • This kills at 130 (deep orange) on the edge and at 160 (light red) in the middle of the stage on 3 defense when hitting both damage parts.
  • This kills at 150 (light red) on the edge and at 180 (red) in the middle of the stage on 3 defense when hitting both damage parts.
  • This signature deals 21.8 damage in total.
  • This signature deals 9.8 damage when hitting the first part.
  • This signature deals 11.10 in the second part.

I like this sig a lot! This is the signature I use the most on bow, not spammy but often, like whenever I know they’re not expecting it. I love the fact that it hits stacked you can simply pull your enemy from the stage and put youself in a edgeguarding situation. Trust me since the new buff, this signature has a lot of potential and is just overall great!

Bow – Down Signature

The best way to use the DSig is it to combind it with a gravity cancel. You put yourself in a rather safe position which is hard to punish when your enemy is below you. This can hit stacked. And hits any enemies below you in a small hitbox which goes straight under you. Hitboxes are weird for me but it spreads when hitting ground.

  • This kills at 170 (red) on an 8 defense legend.
  • This kills at 160 (light red) on a 5 defense legend.
  • This kills at 160 (light red) on a 3 defense legend.
  • This signature deals 26.2 damage.

Yea, this signature is not bad, it’s really consistent. It puts you in a somewhat safe position on the ground and in the air (gravity cancel). It has decent force and great kill potential in higher health stages. I love to use this sig combined with a momentum dodge because it’s fast and catches most people off guard.

Katar – Neutral Signature

Similiar to the bow one, just less range and more force. Two damage parts, dealing 25.8 damage. It can not be hit stacked and it hits people in diagonal range above you when facing your enemy.

  • This kills at 170 (red) on an 8 defense legend.
  • This kills at 160 (light red) on a 5 defense legend.
  • This kills at 150 (light red) on a 3 defense legend.
  • This signature deals 27.4 when hitting every 11 hits.

Not to bad, but not my favorite. I rarely use signatures on Ember’s katars but when I do, I use something other than this NSig. It’s just personal preference I guess, for me, there are a lot better killing tools, for example, DLight > Recovery or NAir > Recovery.

Katar – Side Signature

This is a great signature with nice force and it hits stacked which is incredible, in my opinion. Her second best signature in her kit! What I really like to do is to gimp then and do a gravity cancel side signature towards the end of the map. It really catches people off guard. It hits people in front of you in a short distance. This signature has also two damage parts, if the first one hits, then the second will hit 100% (only for 1v1).

  • This kills at 140 (red) on the edge and at 150! (red) in the middle of the stage on an 8 defense legend when hitting both damage parts.
  • This kills at 150 (red) on the edge and at 170 (red) in the middle of the stage on an 8 defense legend when hitting only one damage part.
  • This kills at 120! (orange) on the edge and at 140! (red) in the middle of the stage on a 5 defense legend when hitting both damage parts.
  • This kills 140 (red) on the edge and at 160 (red) in the middle of the stage on a 5 defense legend when hitting only one damage part.
  • This kills at 120 (orange) on the edge and at 140 (red) in the middle of the stage on a 3 defense legend when hitting both damage parts.
  • This kills at 140 (red) on the edge and at 160 (red) in the middle of the stage on a 3 defense legend when hitting only one damage part.
  • This signature deals 30.1 damage when hitting both damage parts.
  • This signature deals 14.5 damage when hitting the first part only.
  • This signature deals 15.6 damage when hitting the second part only.

I love this signature, great killing move and definitely my favorite move in Ember’s kit. Great start up frames, huge knockback, great force and huge stun time. Love it.

Katar – Down Signature

This is probably Ember’s best signature. Barely punishable (Dobrein approved), great force and huge killing potential. That jump back catches everyone off guard, also absolutely no startup frames. This signature can hit stacked

  • This kills at 140 (red) on the edge and at 150 (red) in the middle of the stage on an 8 defense legend.
  • This kills at 130 (red) on the edge and at 140 (red) in the middle of the stage on a 5 defense legend.
  • This kills at 120 (oranged) on the edge and at 140 (red) in the middle of the stage on a 3 defense legend.
  • This signature deals 27.5 damage when hitting all 7 damage parts.

I like the side signature more because it has more force, but I actually use the down sig more. Just the fact that you jump back so fast makes it better because the chances is less that you get punished. This signature is a really consistent move.

NOTE: EVERY MOVE HAS BEEN TESTED ON THE MAP SHIPWRECK FALLS, THIS DATA IS NOT 100% TRUE BUT YOU CAN RELY ON IT! NO SIGNATURE HAS BEEN CHARGED.

Combos and Strings

I’ll add gifs when I have time for it but for now let me do it this way:

Bow

  • DLight > NAir (easy, true combo) deals 31.8 damage. [Great for wrecking up damage]
  • DLight > SAir (easy, true combo) deals 25.6 damage. [Great killing move, can be used to wreck up damage or to start a string with]
  • DLight > NLight (easy, true combo) deals 30.8 damage. [Great for wrecking up damage]
  • DLight > Recovery (medium, true combo) deals 27.7 damage. [Great killing move]
  • DLight > DAir (easy, string) deals 29.2 damage. [Great for wrecking up damage, can be used to start a string]
  • DLight > NSig (easy, string/true on white) deals 23.2 damage. [Drops in orange and above, not so useful]
  • DLight > Groundpound (hard, string) deals 21.5 damage. [Great killing move, high force, can lead to early kills]

^ You can start with SLight on any of these combos/string but using SLight first will make any true combo a string.

Also add 24.6 damage to the actual combo/string.

  • NLight > NAir (easy, string) deals 43.7 damage. [Great for wrecking up damage]
  • SAir > NLight (easy, string) deals 37.3 damage. [Great for wrecking up damage]
  • SLight > DLight > DAir > SLight > SAir/Recovery/NAir/NLight (hard, string) deals 95.2-101.6 damage [Great for wrecking up a lot of damage]

Katars

  • DAir > SLight > NLight (easy, string)
  • DAir > Chasedodge > DLight > NAir (hard, string)
  • DAir > Chasedodge > DLight > DAir > NLight > Recovery > Chasedodge > NAir (really hard, string)

(This guide is done so far, but I’ll still add some things and update it once or twice a week. Thanks!)
