I asked the service advisor what exactly cost so much and he just gave me this rehearsed answer about “genuine parts” and “trained technicians” and “specialized equipment.” I’m not saying those things aren’t important, but 3,500 for basic maintenance feels insane to me. A neighbor of mine who also drives a Mercedes told me he stopped going to the dealership years ago and instead found a specialist garage that charges about half the price. He said I should learn more about this offer from a place that focuses specifically on Mercedes repair in Abu Dhabi. I’m tempted to try it because saving money sounds great, but I’m also worried – what if something goes wrong and the specialist isn’t as good as the dealership? What if they use fake parts or don’t have the right diagnostic computers? Has anyone here made the switch from dealership to independent specialist for their Mercedes? How was your experience? Did you actually save money or did hidden costs pop up later? And most importantly, how do you tell the difference between a good specialist and someone who just claims to be one? I really want to stop overpaying but I also don’t want to ruin my car trying to be cheap. Honest experiences would mean a lot to me right now.
