I’m in charge of procurement for a chain of veterinary clinics across the emirates and we’re standardizing how we transport surgical kits and sterile supplies between branches. Currently it’s a mishmash of autoclave pouches inside generic plastic totes which works but looks unprofessional and occasionally a tote gets dropped and the pouches split open which means the whole kit has to be re sterilized. The last thing we need is the crates themselves becoming a contamination vector because the material reacts poorly with cleaning chemicals and develops micro cracks over time. Also curious about the color range, white or light grey would be ideal so we can actually see if anything is dirty rather than the standard dark industrial colors where grime is invisible until it’s a problem.

Chemical compatibility with accelerated hydrogen peroxide specifically is not something most industrial crate manufacturers test for since it’s more of a medical grade concern, I’d push them for actual chemical resistance data sheets rather than a verbal assurance it’ll be fine.

Worked in vet clinic logistics for a few years and micro cracking from repeated disinfection cycles is a real problem with cheaper polypropylene, the surface starts looking fine but harbors bacteria in cracks you can’t even see. Ask what grade of plastic specifically before committing.

Smooth crevice free interior is going to be hard to verify from a product listing alone, you’d almost need to inspect one in person or get a sample sent over before signing off on something for sterile supply transport.

Does your standardization plan account for validation documentation too? Some accreditation bodies want proof the storage system itself was assessed for infection control, not just that it looks clean, might be worth checking before the partners approve anything.
