A repeat drive i/o issue is normally a sign that the storage drive is having communication difficulties. The problem can be either corrupted drivers, cables, loose connections or failed internal drive components. Repeated drive i/o problems may also be caused by poor file system structure or bad sectors. In case the error persists despite reconnecting the device and updating drivers, then it can be assumed that the drive is being worn out and requires immediate intervention to prevent the loss of data.
